The philosophy of Natural Horsemanship is very simple - it is based on the development of the horse/human relationship in a manner which is extremely considerate of, and natural to the horse. The Performance Horse Network wholeheartedly embraces and enthusiastically promotes the philosophy of Natural Horsemanship.
"Parelli Natural Horsemanship strives to improve the lives and relationships of horses and their humans by developing the ideal of 'horses as partners'. This goal can be attained through knowledge and comprehension of Natural Horsemanship. In promoting the understanding of prey animal psychology, Parelli Natural Horsemanship will assist in educating horse lovers everywhere, across all disciplines, in what is possible through self-development as Natural Horsemen. Mental, emotional and physical fitness, combined with assertiveness and leadership can promote less predatory attitudes towards life in general. It is the sincere hope of Parelli Natural Horsemanship that all who are involved with horses will be inspired to become true horsemen, naturally."

"We will do our best to avoid the use or promotion of torturous techniques, torturous equipment or restraints that physically force a horse into submission"
"We will not condone or promote any inhumane acts."
"We wholeheartedly promote and support a natural approach towards horses based on prey animal psychology, behaviour modification through psychology/approach & retreat"
"Excellence can be attained if you ...
Care more than others think is wise
Risk more than others think is safe
Dream more than others think is practical
Expect more than others think is possible"
